Coffee Drawings: Vessels

So, today, I spent a while at Pappacino’s  in the Woodstock neighborhood of SE Portland, drawing these vintage vessels from Pinterest. Yes, I am getting a lot of my inspiration from that addictive, gorgeous site lately. 🙂  Here they are, vases and bowls….

I made these just for fun, and sent them to a friend so she could use them on gifts she was giving for Valentine’s day.

Holiday Colored Mischief

Holiday Colored Mischief

I don’t know why I even buy paint brushes! I had so much fun with palette knives, super-cheap sponge brushes, and paper towel making these papers today.

Street Light

I’m still working through my scraps from the Teacher Appreciation Week poster. I realized that I REALLY love working with bright colors and I’m not the least bit embarrassed to admit it. 🙂

The “City Scene”

Image

This one reminds me of city scenes, with their densely packed buildings, signs and ads of many colors. I must be honest, I haven’t had my coffee yet, so I can’t really think of much more to say. But if do, I’ll update this post. 🙂

Can’t Stop Thinking About Summer

Image

I guess I’ve got Summer on the brain.  This one comes from a photo I took on our last day in Maui two years ago. The red represents the umbrellas set out against the beach. I thought the color combination of beach and umbrellas was quite striking.

Ferris Wheels and Merry-Go-Rounds at the Alaska State Fair

a mixed media piece from a photo I took from the ferris wheel at the Alaska State Fair last Fall

Here is a little (6.5″ square) piece I did while looking at (and thinking of) the pictures I took from the Alaska State Fair last September. I went to Wasilla to visit some family and heard great things about their state fair. We went, the kids enjoyed and I ate some fried things. All in all, a good day.

Anyway, from the ferris wheel, I took a bunch of “aerial” photos of the fairgrounds. I loved all the colorful rides and tents against the beautiful green and blue of the surrounding landscape.  So, I did my best to capture them abstractly and that is what you see here. 🙂
