I had this card ready to go and I couldn’t release it because I thought the imagery needed something. Well, a few months later, and I figured out what it was. I really owe it to my daughter, who got out the sticky butterflies.

I rubbed a bunch of stamp inks on this one. Then, colored areas with caran d’ ache crayons.
It measures about 3×3 inches.

After a long argument with myself about what I like to do creatively right now, I have reached something of a solution. Working small, helps me to refine techniques, colors and designs. It also gives me satisfaction on a more regular basis, and personally, I love the small sizes right now to communicate my current vision.
My work always begins with pieces, of scenes, of paper, of anything, and I end up putting them together to form my paintings. So, why not use that philosophy to create a body of work? I thought it was a great idea and it’s working out so far. Here are two paintings from this week. Both are encaustic and watercolor paintings on panel.

My baby is waking up so I have to keep this short, i LOVED using a quilting iron on the wax in this piece, it gave me so much control. I’ll have to write more later… but here is a picture.

I had these great wooden box lids lying around and I wanted to paint on them, so I am not sure exactly what the measurements are on this but it’s smaller than 8×10. Here it is, a mixed media painting with a watercolor drawing inside and papers embedded into wax.

It’s my daughter’s first birthday (well it was Thursday, but the party is today. In a few short hours, her family will enjoy these cute little leaves and ladybugs cut from the Cricut. Totally easy, totally cute! Here’s a peak!
I’ve been working on this 18×24 encaustic painting this week. Putting a lot of thought and attention into this, I found that the grid method worked REALLY well for me. I will be trying it again. The title, “Poor Alice,” is from a page in Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland that I have printed in archival ink on my printer. I just liked it as a title, that’s the story. Here’s the painting.
I did these for my cousin who is having a boy in Oct. That Cricut is so addictive it’s SICK! 🙂 They are made with the “new arrival” cartridge, and loads of green paper. 🙂Â

Here are the final two bug paintings, I picked frames for them last night and they will be SUPER cute in my baby’s room. 🙂 I may get industrious and post a picture when they are up on the wall together, but we shall see.Â
I have prints of all four of these in my etsy shop.Â
